Picosure Tattoo Removal

Tattoos that once meant something to us in our younger years may now be a reminder of our regrets. Why waste time thinking about a mistake when you can get rid of it? At Windward Medispa, we offer top of the line thermal technology that gets right to the problem of unsightly tattoos. The PicoSure treatment targets the tattooed areas on the skin with short bursts of thermal energy causing the ink to burst into tiny particles that are easily removed. In just one treatment you can already see results.

Why PicoSure?

Other laser systems not only heat up the skin as well as the particles but they damage all the skin around it significantly in the process. PicoSure energy waves hit the exact markings you want to be eliminated from your skin, damaging nothing else. Other laser technology can cause premature wrinkles and runs the risk of killing healthy cells in the skin. With PicoSure, you can expect a lesser amount of treatments and see results sooner. If you’re thinking of getting rid of a tattoo, think of speaking with one of our specialists that can help explain the process further at Windward Medispa.

How is the treatment performed?

The physician uses a picosecond laser system that rivals any laser treatment out there. There is a small tool that delivers the picosecond laser energy to the affected and tattooed area with PicoSure, meaning that the tattoo can be treated quicker and with less discomfort than previous treatments. The PicoSure treatment takes half the time of original treatment. The picosecond laser can change in the wavelength and frequency of application for specific types of ink as well. No anesthetic needed.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

Laser energy is delivered to the tattoo, targeting the ink and breaking it down into smaller particles. The particles are eliminated by the body’s natural processes resulting in a lightening of the tattoo ink.

How many treatments will tattoo removal require?

The number of laser treatments needed for tattoo removal is dependent on a number of variables such as ink type, size of the tattoo, type of laser used, lifestyle habits, etc. During your consultation, we will evaluate your tattoo and recommend a realistic treatment regime to help you achieve the best results.

How often will I need treatments?

While it typically it takes 4-6 weeks for the body to absorb ink particles, every patient and tattoo responds differently. Following the recommended post treatment protocol will likely improve the results and reduce the chance of adverse events.

Can I have only a portion of my tattoo removed?

Yes, some lasers provide energy precisely enough so that a small amount of a tattoo can be removed without affecting the surrounding tattoo.

How much does tattoo removal cost?

The cost of laser tattoo removal depends on several factors, including the size of tattoo and the number of treatments it will require. After your consultation, we will provide you a price estimate for the treatment series.

Can I lighten the tattoo to have another one put on top?

Tattoos can be lightened in preparation for a cover-up tattoo. We recommend that you wait six weeks between your last treatment and when you have the new tattoo completed.

Does tattoo removal hurt?

This procedure is slightly more uncomfortable than getting a tattoo, however it is very fast. Many treatments may take less than a minute. We will work with you on the best pain management option for you based on your individual situation.

Will I blister and scab afterwards?

Blisters and scabs can be a normal response to tattoo removal. Keep the skin over it covered with a healing ointment and gauze to promote healing and prevent scarring.

Rid yourself of unsightly tattoos. You won’t regret it!
